When is fungi not a fun guy? When it is uncontrolled Candida.

Candida is a type of yeast or fungus. There are about 200 types, most are harmless living happily on our skin and in our microbiome. But in certain conditions these fungi can become out of control e.g. when our immune system is disrupted or we take a course of antibiotics that strip us of our good bacteria along with the bad, and Candida can become our opponent.
Candida Albicans is the most common type and is not always bad news as it has been found that mice that carried Candida Albicans in their guts were protected from deadly amounts of Clostridium Difficile (C. Diff). However, when uncontrolled, it is stubborn and can take between 8 - 12 weeks or sometimes longer to eliminate.
Candida Auris can be harder to get rid of and it can be resistant to antifungal drugs. It creates clusters of microbes called biofilms which stick to implanted devices such as pacemakers, spinal cord stimulators, replacement joints, catheters and even dentures.
A sprig of fresh rosemary left to infuse in boiling water is good for clearing biofilms. It is a natural antimicrobial and antibiotic. Cleaning wounds with this infusion is a chemical free way to clear them and drinking it may also help lower your blood sugar as the proteolytic enzymes are good at destroying biofilms.
The toxins that Candida produces may be the underlying cause of infection. This also applies to parasites and other toxicity. The small intestine absorbs these toxins as they are carried to the liver for detoxification but they can stop the nutrients in our food supporting a healthy immune system. This in turn can also lead to adrenal exhaustion.
Kinesiologists find exactly which remedy the body needs to help remove the toxic overgrowth. This could be caprylic acid which is found in coconut oil, garlic (raw or in capsule or liquid form), grapefruit seed extract, black walnut or other anti-fungal remedies.

Carbohydrates increase biofilm development so cutting down on carbs is necessary and avoiding refined carbs is essential. Refined carbs are anything white! During this time processed meats, shellfish, cheese, milk, cream and anything with added sugar should be cut from the diet e.g. ketchup, mayonnaise, bbq sauce, soy sauce etc. Caffeine should be drastically reduced and steer clear from alcohol.
Eat plenty of garlic, olive oil, onions, leafy green vegetables, herbs and spices along with low fructose fruits like apricots, raspberries, strawberries, avocados, plums, lemons, oranges and kiwis.
To begin with you may feel worse before you feel better as the changes to your diet take effect. If you usually consume a lot of ultra processed foods and drink lot of coffee then you will probably experience withdrawal symptoms but stick it out and your body will thank you for it. Drinking lots of water will help flush out the toxins.
Along with this, it is essential to boost the good gut bacteria by taking a full spectrum enzyme to support healthy digestion.
Refined sugar should be avoided for at least 6 months.
Western doctors seldom recognise Candida other than where they can see it as Thrush in the mouth or vagina but it can spread throughout the body making it not easily detectable.
The only way to know for sure exactly what is right for you is to be tested by a Kinesiologist who will tailor supplements to your body’s needs which will raise your vital force. Good quality supplements are not cheap so it is good to know that what you are taking is exactly what your body needs at that time rather than costly supplements going straight to your body’s waste department and making expensive wee.
When it comes to buying supplements, do your research. Buy one, get one free deals seem like a bargain but the ingredients are often of low quality and may contain a lot of fillers.
You get what you pay for.
