Confessions of a Serial Healer Crystal Whispers: My Journey with Crystal Healing

I don’t remember the exact moment I fell in love with crystals, only that they’ve always felt like home.

Where I grew up, it wasn’t unusual to find crystals quietly sitting on shelves or nestled in glass cabinets.

In fact, being born in Russia, crystals, rocks, gems, and minerals were always part of the conversation.

If you went on a school trip, they’d take you to museums showcasing local mineral treasures.

If your parents or grandparents went on holiday, they would almost certainly return with a souvenir, often something crystal-adorned, which, as a child, you’d roll your eyes at and consider tacky.

In geography classes at school, when we studied different regions, we also had to learn about the terrain, climate, and how they influenced mineral deposits - and oh, the pain we all felt!

(Have you seen how much terrain Russia has?) One particularly memorable activity year on year was completing homework on outline maps.

These ‘contour maps’ came with tasks: figure out the minerals using your atlas or study book, then mark them in the correct regions, colour them in, and use the right symbols of that particular set of tasks, for example a star for diamonds, a tiny square for coal, and so on.

It was like mineral cartography meets a colouring book. Sounds like fun now, but at the time it was pure torture.

In Russian households, amber was everywhere - in brooches, rings, “paintings,” or simply raw chunks glowing like drops of the sun. Your grandmother might not have had a string of pearls, but she almost certainly had amber beads. Amethyst was just as common - nearly everyone could recognise it, and most would have at least one piece of jewellery adorned with it.

When I was growing up, no one really talked about “crystal healing.” These stones weren’t seen as spiritual tools, just pretty things used for decor (Dear crystals, please forgive me for this wording).

The First Crystals I Bought for Myself

It wasn’t until much later - on a quiet trip to the Cotswolds - that I bought my first few pieces consciously. I still remember the shop: a tiny, tucked-away crystal haven in Bourton-on-the-Water.

I could’ve stayed there for hours. I think I did. I was completely spellbound. Back then, I didn’t know their names or meanings. I didn’t Google metaphysical properties or read books about vibration. I simply picked up what I was drawn to, what made my palms tingle, my breath slow, my heart settle. Only after I chose my crystals, I decided to also get a little booklet outlining crystals and their meanings, trying to match my purchases to the pictures.

That was the beginning. From that moment on, the collection grew… and grew.

Now? Let’s just say my crystals have their own shelves, storage boxes, travel bags, altar spaces, and healing trays. They are colleagues, companions, co-facilitators in healing. Each one with its own personality, vibration, and purpose. Some are gentle and nurturing, others fiery and activating. Some work with the chakras, some speak to the stars.

The Learning That Followed

Even though by then I already knew quite a lot about crystals and worked with them, it felt like it was not enough. As my connection deepened, I felt called to formally study crystal healing, not just intuitively, but with structure and care - and to offer crystal healing as one of my services.

I trained with the incredible Anna and became certified in Crystal Healing Level 1 and 2, following the teachings of Philip Permutt, one of the leading voices in the field. His approach felt aligned with mine: respectful of ancient knowledge, yet grounded in modern practice.

Through these training sessions, I connected to the crystals even deeper. Crystal grids, healing layouts, vibrational cleansing, intuitive placement - all of it brought new layers of depth to what I already felt in my bones. It helped me anchor the intuitive with the practical, and allowed me to offer sessions with more clarity, confidence, and safety.

Crystals and the Chakras: A Natural Partnership

When I began offering Reiki sessions, it was only natural that the crystals came with me. I would always place at least two crystals - one at the feet and one at the head - and often more on the body, depending on what came through during the session.

Crystals have an uncanny way of amplifying Reiki energy. I began placing them on clients’ chakras, not just based on colour correspondences, but on intuitive pull. Over time, certain patterns began to emerge. I started keeping track, connecting the dots, and crafting healing layouts that aligned with each soul’s unique energy.

It wasn’t just about what the books said. It was about what the crystal said.

Listening to the Stones

One of the most beautiful things about working with crystals is how your relationship with them evolves.

There are seasons in which I feel pulled toward obsidian, especially after shadow work or deep clearing. Other times, I find myself surrounding my space with celestite, selenite, and moonstone. During times of change, it’s tanzanite, libyan desert glass or moldavite . For love and gentleness, pink opal or rhodochrosite. And for courage? Tiger’s eye.

Crystals are living, breathing allies in this world, not just “tools” but ancient intelligences with their own stories, medicine and even personalities. The more I work with them, the more they reveal. Not just about themselves, but about me. About the person in front of me. About the subtle, sacred energy unfolding in each session. Some of them arrive and only stay for a while. Others have never left my side, but I honour them all.

They are part of pretty much everything I do at Moon Haven.

In every circle or workshop I lead, there are crystals, woven into altars, healing grids, or meditation spaces. Participants often choose crystals intuitively before we begin, and use it during meditation or

sound bath journeys. And then - they take it home. As an anchor. As a reminder. As a companion for integration.

In 1–1 sessions, it’s much the same. After a healing or a coaching session, I’ll gift clients a set of tumble stones, matching what came through in the session and what is needed for their journey ahead. I offer them guidance, reflections, and “homework” on how to work with the crystal in their own time. It’s my way of saying that the session doesn’t end when you leave the room. The healing continues - and the crystal becomes a bridge.

Love and blessings,
